Observations
made by the parents and the hospital in Toledo (Spain)
Progress
during Ivan's first weeks of treatment:
- No more gases in his stomach and intestines
- Much less spasticity: Ivan's limbs are more supple and overall less
rigid than before, e.g. his parents do not have to force his hands open
now
- He can turn his head to the right which he could not do before
- He does not take anti-histaminic medication any more
- He smells different fragrances again, a sense which he lost with his
injury
- He feels uncomfortable when passing water (he did not feel anything
before)
- He can now defecate without using a suppository
- Sweating in his feet appeared
- He has sensations in his legs which he cannot describe (no sensation in
and of his legs before)
Progress
during Ivan's last week of treatment in June 2007:
- Spasticity has decreased
- Because Ivan can now move his head to the right, he'll be equipped with
an electric wheelchair and use his chin to move it
- His spine straightened up
- Sweating in his feet and armpits
- Pes equinus (because of spasticity) is getting better which will save
him a surgery
- He sleeps better
- The pitch of his voice is stronger
- Ivan's smell is better
