T12-L1 flaccid paraplegia Frankel A
- Motor and sensory systems: nil below the level of
injury.
- Bladder: cannot when his bladder is full,
intermittent catheterization 5 per day.
- Bladder: cannot feel when his bowels are full ; uses
suppositories (3 to 4 per week) ; has leakings of stools.
- Sensations intimes : nil.

1. Independence
2. Stability
- Stands in parallel bars since 23 March 2004 in KAFOs during 60 to 90
minutes (has his own KAFOs made in by Mr Miallet in Bourges, France,
since 23 Feb. 2004.
3. Mobility
- Has done electric bike dayly since 23 Feb. 2004.
- 3 March 2004: feels the need to stand up.
4.1. Voluntary locomotricity
- 23 March 2004: is able to contract the muscles of his thighs but no
movement (grade 1)
4.2. Walking
- 16 March 2004: walking in his KAFOs through a room with a
walker; beginnings of walking on a treadmill.
- 19 March 2004: able to walk blindfolded in KAFOs by pushing a walker
without losing his balance; feels the weight of his body on his right
calf and left hip.
5. Sensory level
- Light touch:
No feeling below his SCI.
- Pressure:
12 March 2004: feels the pressure of a finger down to his hip, i.e. L1
dermatom.
- Pain:
No feeling below his SCI.
- Hot:
No feeling below his SCI.
- Cold:
12 March 2004: feels the cold when surgical spirit evaporates down to
his navel (T10-T11 dermatoms)
- Pinprick:
No feeling below his SCI.
6. Bowels and bladder
- Bowels: no recovery so far.
- Bladder :
3 March 2004: knows when his bladder is full through pressure in his
bladder area but inconstant; can pass a little water by himself.
8 March 2004: manages to pass water every other time by pushing and
contracting his abdominal muscles.
- Intimate sensations: no recovery so far.
No known side effect.
